Amazing Things Your iPhone Can Do

Millions of people are iPhone owners, but very few of them know what their phones are truly capable of.  You probably know that you can use your iPhone to surf the web, play a plethora of games, book flights, order dinner, etc., but here are a few iPhone tips and tricks that might surprise you.

Track Your Location

Your iPhone tracks your “frequent locations” and keeps track of how often you visit some place, like your home, work, or school.  If this freaks you out, you can go into Settings: Privacy: Location services: System Services, and turn off the “Frequent Locations.”  Although, it is useful if you visited a friend’s house recently and can’t remember their address.

You Don’t Need a Power Button

If your iPhone power button has recently stopped working, you can customize your device to recognize touch commands instead of using the buttons.  Go into Settings: General: Accessibility and turn on “AssistiveTouch.”   You will be able to turn up and down the volume, lock the screen, zoom, swipe, “shake” your iPhone, and more by swiping on the screen.  If you find this too annoying, you can just go into an iPhone repair shop and fix the power button.

You Can Close Multiple Apps at a Time

iOS7 has a new feature that allows you to close two or three apps at the same time.  Simply swipe up with two or three fingers to close multiple apps.

It Has a Leveling Tool

Within your compass app, your phone has a leveling tool! Simply swipe to the left when you are in the compass app, and you can use your phone to get straight edges instead of searching in your toolbox.

You Can Customize Message Vibrations

If you are waiting for a specific message, but don’t want to be bothered by every message, you can create a unique vibration for each contact!  Go into contacts, select a friend, hit edit, and then go down to vibration, and create a new vibration for that person.

You Can Customize Your Do Not Disturb Mode

The “Do Not Disturb” mode silences calls and messages on your phone (activate it by swiping up on your phone and pressing the little moon button).  You can customize it so that if your mom or significant other calls, it still rings through.  Go into Settings: Do Not Disturb: Allow Calls From and then set who you want to receive calls from.  You can also set a time period where Do Not Disturb turns on every day.
